The pandemic, although very deadly and damaging, has unveiled the flawed systems of the World. During these months of lock down, a handful of businesses has filed for bankruptcy and many others are on the verge of going bankrupt. Only the businesses that will adapt to the new world order will survive, and flourish.
What will be the New World Order?
A number of assumptions have been made by experts on what the earth would be like post-Covid 19. Nothing can be surely said, however, I’ll discuss some expected changes.
1. Rise of Online Businesses
During the lockdown, when the physical access was restricted, the world quickly digitalised and the internet transformed from a luxury to a necessity. Companies like Amazon, Olx, Daraz, and Ali Express saw a boost in the sellers and consumers. Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos, is set to be the world’s first trillionaire. On the other hand, companies like, ALDO group, Apex park group, Art Van Furniture, Virgin Australia, RavnAir and many others have filed for bankruptcy. The major difference between the two groups of companies is that one offers online services while the other is dependent on the physical access. The new world order would require the companies to function physically as well as digitally. Although, this would not be possible for the primary, travel and tourism industries.
2. Rise in freelance jobs
The lockdown broke the busted the oldest myth, permanent jobs are the most secure, when companies like Careem, Uber, IBM, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) and multiple educational institutes fired thousands of employees. While the free lancers are making money while working from home. Freelancing allows individuals to experience a myriad of opportunities and sectors, with flexible working hours and minimum hassle. This also allows the individual to work on multiple projects at once instead of being bounded to one task as per the contracts. The employer enjoy the benefit of paying just for the amount of work done and no additional benefits are expected. Employers and Employee can safely interact through popular freelancing sites, such as; Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer, Toptal and others.
3. Cinema Houses would die
Been to a movie theatre recently? Probably No. Want be in a room of 300+ people inches away from each other? Hell No! The new world order would require the movie production houses to develop digital platforms for movie premiers or partner with already running platforms, like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney World etc. This would cause a significant loss in the revenues generated and the production houses would need to find a way to recover from it.
4. Online Education
The lock down at the cause of education is not acceptable to anyone. Universities and colleges are developing ways offer online education and Central Examination boards are struggling to offer fair grades on the basis of merit. This would mean an increased accessibility to quality education without boarding a plane and flying to another corner of the world. Although, studies show a reduced focus while reading through a computer screen and no personal supervision of the teachers. Thus, teachers and students would need adapt and accept this paradigm shift in order to match the pace of the world.
5. Better Public Health System
The pandemic exposed the crumpled health systems that were the thought to be the best in the world. Italy, China, USA, UK, and other European nations found themselves hopeless against the calamity. Countries that will develop better systems post-Covid would be the ones favoured for investments and therefore, would be the first to emerge victorious against the recession.
The actual developments post Covid may be much abstract and many would refuse to agree. I believe, the world is changing rapidly and only the open minded, change accepters would survive. So believe in yourself and do not hesitate from risks, you can be the next billionaire in the new world order.
